Doodle's Mountain by Amanda M. Brindley, Sofia Rector

We all crave the peace that’s found in nature. While on a summer vacation with his family, young Doodle is overwhelmed by his noisy surroundings. He spends his vacation saying “Shhh…” to all the noise around him—until he encounters something new and quiet. A delightful read-aloud for small children, written by Amanda Brindley and illustrated by Sofia Rector, Doodle’s Mountain’s peaceful images and rhythmic style make it perfect for highly sensitive children like Doodle. It engages them in a playful response to overwhelming environments, evokes wonder, and encourages readers to be in awe of beauty.
