A handsome antiquarian edition of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, published by Blackie & Son Limited, London, in 1904 and illustrated by Chris Hammond (Christiana Mary Demain Hammond), a member of the celebrated Cranford School of illustration, with a frontispiece and full-page plates.
Bound in the publisher's original blue cloth with a striking Art Nouveau design gilt-stamped to the front board and spine, one of the loveliest decorative treatments of Austen from the Edwardian era.
A pre-owned copy in good, sound condition, with bright gilt and a firm binding, showing some age-appropriate wear to the spine ends and boards. A scarce and beautiful illustrated Austen, and a wonderful gift or shelf piece, here at Landmark Booksellers.
